Sarah PBSarah is a member of the IFEAL Qualifications Faculty and performs the roles of tutor, mentor and assessor.

Curiously enough, a tennis coach recommended a counsellor to Sarah, which began a journey including her own therapy then training as a counsellor. A thirst for learning drew her to take subsequent therapy trainings in fields such as hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, sexual trauma, supervision, then psychosexual and relationship therapy. Sarah is a director of The Grove Practice psychotherapy service in London W1, where she also manages a suite of CPD courses for therapists. Her private counselling practice is based in Malmesbury, Wiltshire. She is trained to work with individuals and couples clients.

Whatever the presenting issues, Sarah strives to give relational support to her clients or mentees, so they may become more of themselves. This often involves gaining more internal resources to trust their instincts, while having compassion for their pre-existing behaviours or strategies. Raising awareness through mind-body connection is a key facet of Sarah’s approach.

Sarah enthusiastically attended riding lessons as a small child, her favourite pony was a dapple grey called Whatnot. She then started resumed riding lessons again in her twenties and thirties. Later she bonded with her own horse. Sarah has ridden on all five continents including activities such as trail riding and rounding up cattle, as well as competing at various levels with distinctly mixed results in dressage, showjumping and eventing. However, after colleagues mentioned equine therapy, it eventually dawned on Sarah that she might be able to combine therapeutic work and spending time with her horses. This prompted a new journey by taking more than one training as an equine-facilitated practitioner. Her equine-facilitated work is now run through Ashlar Evolution in Malmesbury. Having found a wonderful herd at IFEAL, Sarah was invited to join the faculty.

Sarah is also involved with Dare to Live as Operations Director to recruit military veterans onto the equine-facilitated courses designed to support a transition to civilian life.
